So I was talking to my NPC corp today, a long-established corp that has suffered under the newer rules to allow anyone into any corp. Heres a basic overview of what the peeps were thinking:
"This sucks, all I do is pop on EVE to mission-run when I have the time, and chat to people in my NPC corp, now they're cutting into my monies!"
"Not really bothered, I don't make much of my money from missioning anyway, but its strange that they should add a tax like that"
"Stop whining, whiners, I go around with my great setup and gank peeps all the time in losec"
As you can see, the views are mixed, but what nobody could come up with is a why for the NPC corp tax nor a where for where it would go to. If it was purely for cramping the missioners style to get them into PVP, why not just announce that the next patch will decrease the rewards given for missions? This got us thinking, the divide between highsec, losec and nullsec consists of "No resourses to spare on PVP", "Have resources to PVP against ppl with little or no resources" and "Tons of resources and will to do battle with other players". So whats stopping the migration of ppl into losec and nulsec is not that it getting the money in losec is hard, or that the pvp is not rewarding, its the buffer of gate campers and system-scanning pirates that are draining money on players with little or no PVP training.
So how do we liven up EVE but let hardcore mission-runners still have their fun they they are after all, paying for. Its simple, the proposed tax (every single isk) goes to a starter-players fund that suppliments the newbie players funds, and NPC corp police, the more missions you run the more police that NPC corp can have.
And finally its been heavily sugguested that although its fun having a wide range of players in the NPC corps now (A good move initialy), a lot of good information about PVP or industrials is being diluted as SpecFor players join once-industrial corps and vice versa. To solve that, the function that manages what NPC corp you join when not in a PC corp should be biased. Not so that it shuts players out, but so the main core of players in an MPC corp, the one that reflects the corp best, remains and passes on vital information and training.
I hope you will all discuss this in an adult fashion, hf :)
Edit - Seen :)
"This sucks, all I do is pop on EVE to mission-run when I have the time, and chat to people in my NPC corp, now they're cutting into my monies!"
- Run a few extra missions, create your own corp or join a corp with a low tax rate.
"Not really bothered, I don't make much of my money from missioning anyway, but its strange that they should add a tax like that"
-All player corps have the option of taxing their members and most do have a small tax, isn't more strange that the large npc corps have no tax?
"Stop whining, whiners, I go around with my great setup and gank peeps all the time in losec"
-So you are not realy affected by the tax then but the npc corps will still get their Isk out of you in service charges (Like they do everyone regardless of what corp you are in so this is not a reason for not have the NPC Corp tax)
